To be unapologetically you is to own every part of your being without trying to change or mold yourself into something that you are not. It’s accepting your strengths and weaknesses, dreams and failures equally. It’s embracing the knowledge that you may be imperfect at this very moment but you are willing to accept and love ALL of you in spite of that. Doing this can be a challenge at first, but once you embrace your unapologetic self, it will allow you to be more open, honest and accepting of yourself and others...and this is where the real magic happens.
If being unapologetically you is so liberating, why is it so hard to achieve?
For most of us accepting who we really are and sharing that version of ourselves to the world doesn’t come easily. Most of us are taught at an early age to “just fit in” and to shrink ourselves by playing small in order to gain approval. We condition ourselves to show only what we think our peers deem socially acceptable and hide the flawed/ rough edges which truly makes us unique.
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”— Oscar Wilde
To get past this false sense of who we should be, we have to come to the realization that each day spent in this compromised state, is a day lost and never to be seen again. Why waste your most precious commodity -TIME- living a life that someone else has assigned to you and created for you?
What I know to be true is that when you care too much about what other people think, you limit your capacity for living a fully authentic life. One needs to get to the point where the main focus is to find and listen to their inner voice -INNER CAPTAIN- which provides the guidance and direction necessary to navigate through this life changing experience .
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose” -Dolly Parton
So, what's holding you back? Why not start today by embracing all of you, the past you, the future you....and more importantly the present unapologetic you. All that you need to achieve this new reality is already there. Don't let the fear of being misunderstood hold you back. Be you, bet on you and more importantly show the world all of you. Being unapologetically you is the best gift that you will ever give to yourself! #Dare2BeUnapologeticallyYou

Brené Brown: Why Your Critics Aren't The Ones Who Count
About this presentation: There is nothing more frightening than the moment we expose our ideas to the world. Author and vulnerability researcher Brené Brown shows us how to deal with the critics and our own self-doubt by refusing to "armor up" and shut ourselves off. "Not caring what people think," she says, "is its own kind of hustle." Instead we must "reserve a seat" for the critics and our own self-doubt. "Tell them, I see you, I hear you, but I'm going to do this anyway." Watch more videos at http://www.99u.com/videos
